Let's take a moment to walk together in silence. Listen. How close could we get? To the paused moment, the experience, the glance? To that which is not our own?
Our living environment itself is a beautiful, ready-made set for the performance.The site-specific performance Towards took place at the Roihuvuori Village Festival in 2018.The working group sought ways to help people pause for a moment to take in their surroundings. How little is needed to make an experience meaningful? How quietly can strangers be together?
The Office of Caring Acts, implemented the same year, and its stories about caring and kindness, locality, longing, and memories one would rather forget, inspired this work. During the village festival, the piece consisted of a silent group walk from one installation to another. After the festival, the installations remained in place for a few weeks, allowing visitors to explore them independently using an online map embedded with soundscapes.
